As a self-confessed food addict, there’s nothing I love more than finding brilliant little cafe gems replete with gorgeous food that I can spend absolutely all my money on. Actually scratch that, there’s nothing I love more than finding brilliant little cafe gems replete with gorgeous food that I can spend absolutely all my money on that is also a convenient five minute walk from my house. Winning.
Good Times Milk Bar is your newest all-day cafe in the ‘burbs. With its name a nod to the old milk bar where it now stands, this cafe ushers in a new era. Transforming what once was the go-to place for litre milk into lattes – even of the chai variety – and cartons of eggs into gooey, dippy soldier pools, you’re guaranteed to find a different kind of essential than the ones usually stored in fridges and atop shelves.
On the menu you’ll find some tried and true favourites, such as smashed avo and ricotta hotcakes, as well as uniquely delicious food fare like the cauliflower salad and moroccan eggplant with harissa.
The space itself is light and bright, with pops of 80’s-esque colour and exposed brick complementing the white interior. Friendly staff guide you to one of the many tables in this deceptively large cafe, and an outdoor space adorned with beanbags means you and your best fur friend can enjoy both the strawberry milkshake and the sunshine. With whispers of burger nights circulating also, I suddenly feel little need to leave my suburb.
Now that’s what I call a good time.
Good Times Milk Bar is located at 83 Tucker Rd Bentleigh.
