The number one must attend event on Melbourne’s summer social calendar is the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo. Situated in the Point Nepean National Park smack bang next to the beautiful beach (which is also extremely convenient for mooring your superyacht upon which you have travelled on to get to the polo itself), the polo fricking bleeds luxury and glamour, I mean the preferred choice of travel is a helicopter for goodness sake, which is additionally reflected in the amazing outfits witnessed whilst people watching from our stunning marquee. Pastel everything, wedges and straw boaters were the norm for the ladies, whilst no man was caught dead without statement Blazers, chinos and boat shoes. Abundant with D grade reality television personalities, footballers and WAGS, the multitude of marquees were the place to view the ponies from, but once the free champagne, mojitos and espresso martinis started flowing and the DJs started spinning, the actual polo, of which the entire event is meant to be situated around, became more and more of a blurry rush of figures in the background whilst my gaze settled on the cones of calamari and pulled pork sliders on offer from the cushioned comfort of the Entourage Polo Club Marquee. The Polo is 100% a must attend event for a guaranteed good time and the best thing is, you don’t even need to know a thing about the actual game, the really interesting action is more in the personalities around you than the ponies.
